Hey Honey,
Things… haven’t been great. There’s been a lot to process over the past few weeks, both in our day to day lives, and in the world. It feels like a hot tub in a sauna - the heat of either could be tolerable, but together, it quickly becomes too much. But we’ll make it through. We’re resilient. And lucky.
For now, as a bright spot, I think it's time we introduce our readers to Marshmallow, our playful and adorable new kitten. He's bringing a lot of much-needed joy and levity to our family these days.
We knew we’d be adding a furry family member to our house someday. But our oldest has been needing more comfort and emotional support lately, so we decided to pick out a sweet, friendly kitten from the local shelter. Marshmallow snuggled up to us instantly, purring and accepting all the belly rubs we could give. It took a little longer for our kids to warm up to him, ironically, but once they did, Marshmallow brought out joy and positivity in all of us. As our oldest son said, shortly after we brought him home: "I think it's impossible to be angry when he's around."
He acclimated to our house very quickly, despite coming from the shelter with a cold and conjunctivitis. After some meds and some snuggles, he’s turned the house into a giant cat playground, darting from room to room and wrestling our feet from atop the comforter as we lay in bed.
He’s only about 6 months old. A kind stranger found him in a cold, wet forest, flea-ridden and sick. I’m so glad he made it through all that to become the king of our household. He’s also pretty resilient. And lucky.
Love,
Mike
You're right, I needed this. YAY for kitties!
